A Change In Direction is a new series of photographic works taken of Te Hoiere/Pelorus River, Marlborough.

About 100,000 years ago the Te Hoiere/Pelorus River flowed south into the Wairau River instead of east and north into Pelorus Sound as it does today. This was a major change in the direction of the river flow. The river used to turn 90° at Havelock and flow south along what is now the Kaituna Valley. As in our own lives, change is a constant certainty for all and nothing stands still or constant for long. A continious flow of changing of direction shape and shift our own existence.

Christina Little is a photographic artist based in Wellington, New Zealand. She has shown her photographs both nationally and internationally. Christina was a finalist in New Zealand’s 2019 National Contemporary Art Award.
