Working as a printmaker from my Lyall Bay studio, I have travelled the Wellington coastline and beyond with my sketchbooks, not only drawing, but researching the history. From archaeological diggings to favoured fishing bays and associated kai of individual areas, I have tried to learn as much as I can. This process of understanding history before making art has set me up for developing my unique style, which is also heavily influenced by our position here in the Pacific.
Kirsty joined fellow Wellington printmakers Carrie Carey and Denise Durkin to present the Our Taonga Our Native Bush exhibition in 2022. Three printmakers celebrating their love for our national treasure, our native bush. Nga taonga o te ngahere.
