Leonard Victor Mitchell

NEW ZEALAND LANDSCAPES & TOWNSCAPES

In 1956 Leonard won the inaugural Kelliher Prize with his oil painting Summer in the Mokauiti Valley. His entry for the second year of the competition was The Road to Ngawi, Cape Palliser, Wairarapa (depicted here). In the third year of the competition Len was again awarded the Kelliher Prize for Stormlight & Snow, Ruahine Mountains (1958) which is now part of the the National Collection, Te Papa Tongarewa.

The below paintings are some of Leonard’s New Zealand landscapes and townscapes currently held by the Mitchell family or sold through Mitchell Studios gallery.

Please note that, while all efforts are made to represent artworks faithfully, nothing compares to seeing an artwork in the flesh.
Please contact us if you are interested in an artwork and we would be more than happy to provide further images or a viewing if you are in the Wellington region.
